FEATURED EVENT

Tastes of Somerset – Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Bike Ride

October 17, 2026

7am – 2pm

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Esk

Discover Somerset’s food story one pedal stroke at a time.

This vibrant cycling and foodie adventure, hosted by the BVRT Users Association, takes you from Esk to Toogoolawah along the BVRT before rolling out onto quiet country roads for a curated tasting journey with three exceptional Somerset producers.

Fresh local ingredients, small‑batch artisans, and landscapes farmed for generations come together in a full‑day experience unlike anything else.

The Ride:
Starting in Esk, you’ll enjoy a scenic BVRT section to Toogoolawah before heading onto a mixed route of gravel and bitumen. This is a fully supported ride. The pace is social, the roads are peaceful, and every stop offers a new taste of Somerset’s rich food culture. 48 km. Some hills. Suitable for Gravel Bikes, MTBs and eBikes.

Stop 1: The Picnic Society – Morning Tea
A concept café known for its creativity and charm. Riders will enjoy sampler plates featuring in‑house mini quiches, croissants, locally produced jams, and freshly brewed coffee. It’s the perfect start to the day.

Stop 2: Cumquats Australia – Orchard Tasting Experience
A specialist producer crafting high‑quality cumquat products for both long‑time fans and first‑time tasters. Expect farm‑crafted drinks, artisan preserves, and freshly harvested orchard produce. Our visit includes generous sampler platters and drinks showcasing the versatility of this remarkable fruit.

Stop 3: Esk Beef – Paddock‑to‑Plate BBQ Lunch
Since 1936, four generations have raised cattle on the same country near Esk. Their ethical, sustainable approach produces natural, wholesome beef with a story behind every box. Picture open paddocks, a century‑old fig tree, long tables, hay‑bale seating, and an open‑fire BBQ. Lunch features Esk Beef rib fillet steaks and thin beef sausages on bread rolls with local garden produce and condiments. Vegetarian options available on request.

All Inclusive – Just $95
