The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is Australia’s longest recreational rail trail and a bucket-list experience for cyclists, hikers and horse-riders. From Wulkuraka to Yarraman, you’ll journey from town to town following the once-laid tracks of the old Brisbane Valley railway line.
The trail stretches across a phenomenal 161km of sensational Australian countryside. With sections ranging from low and moderate difficulty to advanced or challenging terrain, you can customise your journey to suit your endurance and experience levels.
Beginners can safely explore shorter and smoother sections of the trail, while experienced adventurers can challenge themselves on the twists and turns of the track’s tougher terrain. So, whether you’re an avid trail buff, or you’re still on your trailer wheels, sorry, make that trainer wheels, be sure to lace-up or mount-up for the Holy Grail of trails, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Research Survey
Somerset Regional Council has partnered with the University of Queensland and the Department of Transport and Main Roads to conduct a research survey into the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The survey seeks your views about the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and will help improve the visitor experience of the trail and is available to undertake until December 2023.

Looking for to join a community of riding enthusiasts? The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association coordinate a range of events for riders of all abilities along the BVRT. All are welcome to participate in events run all year round along various sections of the trail.
